NGSGM History

The North Georgia School of Gospel Music opened its doors at Young Harris College, Young Harris, Georgia in the summer of 1981 and stayed until 1982. Prior to this opening, several people were involved in the preparation of forming this music school. Singers across Georgia were interested in having a music school where students could develop their God given talents. The road has been one of great joy in seeing the students go away with knowledge of music that will stay with them through life.

In 1983 NGSGM moved to Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, Georgia. In 2015 NGSGM moved to the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, Georgia.

In 2018 NGSGM moved to Historical Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga and remained there until 2020 brought unprecedented circumstances with the world wide pandemic, COVID-19. Though the school was forced to take a break that year, in 2021, NGSGM reopened and offered a DAY SCHOOL at Friendship Baptist Church in Cumming, GA. It proved to be very well attended and was successful. In 2022 and 2023, our school was honored to call Coal Mountain Baptist Church in Cumming, GS home and our school continue to grow and thrive.  In fact, we realized that we were out of space to grow at Coal Mountain and the 2024 school will be held at First Baptist Church in Cumming, Ga.
