Welcome to NGSGM
The North Georgia School of Gospel Music (NGSGM) is a Christian music school held each summer, welcoming students of all ages and musical backgrounds. Whether you’re taking your first steps in music or looking to strengthen your existing abilities, there’s a place for you at NGSGM!
Our school offers exceptional instruction in gospel music in a Christ-centered environment. Through dedicated teaching, hands-on learning, and Christian fellowship, students develop their God-given talents, build confidence, and gain musical knowledge that will serve them throughout their lives.
More than just a music school, NGSGM offers an opportunity to make new friends, reconnect with old ones, develop your singing and instrumental abilities, and grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe that musical education and Christian fellowship go hand in hand, and our desire is to encourage every student to use their talents for God’s glory.

Our Mission
Our mission is to provide quality gospel music education in a Christ-centered environment, equipping students with the musical knowledge, practical skills, and confidence needed to develop their God-given talents. Above all, we desire to encourage a genuine love for godly music, Christian fellowship, and a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our History
The North Georgia School of Gospel Music first opened its doors in the summer of 1981 at Young Harris College in Young Harris, Georgia.
The school was founded through the vision and dedication of several individuals who shared a common desire to establish a place where singers and musicians could develop their God-given talents. Their efforts laid the foundation for what would become a lasting tradition of gospel music education and Christian fellowship.
From the beginning, one of our greatest joys has been watching students grow in their musical abilities and leave with knowledge, friendships, and experiences that continue to enrich their lives and ministries.
Our Journey Through the Years

1981
Young Harris College — Young Harris, Georgia
NGSGM welcomed its first students in the summer of 1981 and remained at Young Harris College through 1982.

1983
Truett-McConnell College — Cleveland, Georgia
The school relocated to Truett-McConnell College, where it remained for more than three decades.

2015
University of North Georgia — Dahlonega, Georgia
NGSGM began a new chapter at the University of North Georgia.

2018
Brenau University — Gainesville, Georgia
The school found a new home at historic Brenau University, where it remained until the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted the 2020 session.

2021
Friendship Baptist Church — Cumming, Georgia
Following the cancellation of the 2020 session, NGSGM reopened with a day-school format. The enthusiastic response and strong attendance made its return a wonderful success.

2022
Coal Mountain Baptist Church — Cumming, Georgia
NGSGM continued to grow and thrive, eventually reaching a point where additional space was needed to accommodate its students and activities.

2024
First Baptist Church — Cumming, Georgia
With enrollment continuing to grow, First Baptist Church was selected as the location for the 2024 school.
A Legacy That Continues
For more than four decades, NGSGM has had the privilege of investing in generations of gospel musicians, singers, and Christian servants. While our locations have changed over the years, our purpose remains the same: to equip students with musical knowledge, encourage them in their Christian walk, and inspire them to use their God-given talents for His glory.
We are grateful for the dedicated teachers, students, families, churches, and supporters who have been part of our history. We look forward to continuing this tradition for generations to come.
